News From The Summit Resort Hotel, St. Maarten
Dear Valued Guest of the Summit Resort Hotel,
Come to Carnival!
Carnival time is almost upon us and this year the St. Maarten Carnival Association will host a whopping 22 days of carnival activities, with seven locally-themed nights, six international nights and eight road events (jump-ups and parades).
The carnival runs from April 18 through May 3 and features music, local and international artists, cultural youth shows, extravagant costumes and parades, and wonderful food from all over the Caribbean.
The international nights will feature music from almost every genre, including soca, reggae, kompa and zouk, Latin, Antillean and R&B. Some of the big-name stars of music who will be in St. Maarten for the Carnival include hip hop sensation Ace Hood, Damian Marley, Grammy-winner Miguel, among others.
See You At The Carnival
The Summit Resort Hotel and Tropical Heaven Restaurantare proud to be one of the sponsors of the Carnival's Girls' Queen Pageant. All the young ladies involved in the pageant will have the opportunity to stay at the resort prior to the competition. During their stay, they will be given tours of the hotel and a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the hospitality service industry.
It all culminates in the burning of the straw effigy "King Momo." Legend has it that the sins committed during Carnival are burned up with the straw King, leaving the island uncontaminated. Don't miss the excitement of this year's Carnival. With a theme of, "Come, Experience Life,"you'll want to be here to experience one of the most exciting extravaganzas on earth.

St. Maarten Airport Voted "Most Stunning Landing in the World"
In a recent review conducted by www.privatefly.com, global travelers voted St. Maarten's Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) the most stunning landing in the world. With 83 airports nominated, PJIA's selection as the most scenic airport coincides with its 70th anniversary.
Here's how one voter described PJIA: "It's a gorgeous approach over the clear blue sea and white, sandy beach with hills in the background. The beachgoers can almost touch the landing gear as planes make their landing. It's unbelievable, an aircraft lover's dream. Nowhere else in the world can you get so close to such a variety of aircraft, anything from a 747 to a Twin Otter.
